The Youth Manifesto

The Manifesto for Young People by Young People to Shape the European Cooperation Policy was published by the European Commission in 2020.

This Manifesto presents young people’s ideas on Interreg and especially on how to better align it with their expectations. It is addressed to policymakers at the EU, national, regional and local level, as well as to Interreg Managing Authorities and project beneficiaries.

Its objective is to facilitate the engagement and democratic participation of young people in Interreg programmes and projects.

The ideas presented here have been collected by European Commission staff through targeted surveys, polls and online group discussions with young people from all over Europe (including outermost regions and the EU’s neighbouring countries), as well as with IVY volunteers.

The EU Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms, Elisa Ferreira, and the German Presidency of the European Council received the Manifesto on 15 October 2020 during a dedicated youth dialogue, in the presence of some of the young people who contributed to writing it.

Check out the Manifesto below, available in all EU languages:

A group of young people carry out actions to implement the Manifesto on a regular basis, attending relevant events to raise awareness of the Manifesto, organising roundtables, getting in touch with local actors. To join the group, contact the AEBR team.
