The Association of European Border Regions (AEBR) is a European-wide organisation representing border and cross-border regions. Its aim is to promote cross-border cooperation practices.
AEBR has its headquarters in Gronau and a project office in Berlin, Germany.
About the job:
The job is full-time (39 hours/week) and based in AEBR’s project office in Berlin from end of July / beginning of August 2024 (flexible start) to 30 June 2025. The working language is English.
As a suitable candidate, you will assist in implementing the project “Interreg Volunteer Youth” (IVY), a volunteering project funded by the European Commission’s DG REGIO. Tasks include:
- providing information to potential participants (volunteers and host organisations) on the objectives and rules of IVY;
- coordinating between host organisations and candidates and looking for participants;
- preparing, administering and controlling necessary documents;
- assisting candidates to support them with visa requirements and necessary steps to be able to live and volunteer in any of the participating countries;
- monitoring safety instructions and risk statuses of participating countries;
- checking through and approving application requests from host organisations and candidates;
- supporting communication activities, publishing posts on social media, making videos, writing articles;
- participating in events and promoting the IVY initiative to relevant stakeholders.
The position grants a strong experience in EU project management and implementation, and vast knowledge in EU affairs, especially with focus on regional policy and European Territorial Cooperation.
The position is to be filled by end of July / beginning of August with a contract until 30 June 2025. The salary is in accordance with the civil service collective agreement (TVöD) of the German system, being under category 8.1 (with a gross monthly salary of approximately 3,280.00 euros, plus extra payments in November and December).
Needed competencies:
The person filling the vacancy is expected to have the following competencies to support the team best:
- communication in English and a second European language, at least C1 (cfr. reference);
- organisation and accuracy, attention to detail;
- teamwork and collaboration;
- interest in assisting the management of an international project (administrative and logistic support) dealing with young volunteers;
- flexibility and autonomy;
- Active listening and empathy;
- Experience in volunteering and/or in solidarity projects;
- General understanding of legal and regulatory visa procedures and others;
- Familiarity with social media and online communication tools.
