The Cross-border Youth Employment Fair of the Euroregion Galicia – North of Portugal, organised as as one of the activities dedicated to “Youth 2030” by the project Interreg  Spain – Portugal (POCTEP) 0023_Eurocidade_2030,  aims to develop a set of activities that involve young people from various social groups, include the promotion of quality jobs, equal opportunities and visibility of the diversity of existing expressions that support their professional and employment future in the Euroregion, promote gender equality, in order to implement strategies and tools in the field of youth integration and promotion. These opportunities focus especially on the challenge of population loss, especially the outflow of qualified young people from the territory.

The frame of this event was the Interreg project 0023_Eurocidade_2030_, which is led by the European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation (EGTC) Eurocidade Chaves-Verín and, as partners, the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude, I.P., the Directorate General of Youth, Participation and Volunteering; the Federação Nacional de Associações Juvenis (FNAJ).

The main task of my host organisation the Galicia Europa Foundation in the project is to collaborate in the Eurocity intervention priority: Youth 2030, with a view to improve the institutional coordination of cross-border services and activities to promote the inclusion of young people, focusing in particular on those at risk of exclusion; as well as support and advice to activities by other partners developed.

The general objective of this project is to reinforce the cross-border cooperation actions developed by the EGTC Eurocidade Chaves-Verín, promoting institutional developments focused on the themes of culture, demography, social action and transport.

A space with a table and a poster was prepared the night before and placed in the area where the exhibition was to take place. At the same time, a table with different information documents of the Galicia Europa Foundation was set up in a room next to the main space, to make visible its importance as one of the main partners of the project.

There was also a contact information form, which allowed participants to enter their email address in order to receive more precise feedback on the specific topics of interest to them and to keep a channel of communication open even after the end of the event.

Of course, the Stand had a speaker, an expert on the subject, available to the public for the entire duration of the Exhibition, who was in charge of making the event dynamic and resolving doubts, as well as distributing information to as many people as possible and generating contacts for the Foundation.

More than 70 people approached the informative space with questions and doubts about the European programmes and about 12 people left us their contact details so that we could send them more specific documentation.

The main topics dealt with consisted on information about Interreg Volunteer Youth programme, the grants and opportunities offered by the Galicia Europa Foundation and the resolution of doubts about other European programmes and projects.
