On 29 May, the event “A city for everyone: bridges of cohesion” took place at the Preschool of Montecilfone, promoted within the European Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY) programme. Students from the Lower Secondary School of the A. Ricciardi Comprehensive Institute took part in a morning dedicated to European values, active citizenship, and Cohesion Policy.
After the greetings from Deputy Mayor Matteo Gissi and Mayor and Mentor Giorgio Manes, Professor Giovanni Di Stasi explained how European Cohesion Policy help reduce inequalities and support local areas, using several examples.
IVY volunteer Mariaenza Di Lena presented the programme and led the workshops. Through role-play and group activities, the students created an “inclusive city” and discussed topics such as accessibility, integration, and sustainability.
The event had a very good level of participation and interest, and it was an important opportunity for civic education and for learning more about the values of the European Union.
