Tackling challenges arising from migration
My name is Laura, 25 yo and I am collaborating as IVY volunteer in the fantastic EUMINT Project at the Eurac Research in Bolzano (Italy) 😊
EUMINT stands for Euregions Migration Integration and the project aims at strengthening institutional cooperation in the territories between Italy and Austria (Kärnten, Tyrol, Trentino-South Tyrol, Veneto, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia) to tackle the social, economic, political and cultural challenges arising from migration. In particular, the project activities focus on institutional cooperation, civic integration and labour integration. In order to increase institutional cooperation, interviews with migration stakeholders have been conducted and different social innovative projects for migrants and asylum seekers have been discovered in every territory and made available for others. To enhance civic integration, a great action-research process led to an interactive boardgame, The House of Common Values, to explore by playing the Common Values (art. 2, TEU), namely Freedom, Democracy - Equality - Rule of law - Human rights - Minority rights - Human dignity - Pluralism - Non-discrimination - Tolerance - Justice - Solidarity - Gender equality. Regarding labour integration, an innovative tool-kit for the practical, professional and interdisciplinary competences has been developed to facilitate asylum seekers and migrants entering the labour market.
I am enthusiastic of the EUMINT Project and even if I joined it at the end of the project -it lasted 3 years (2018-2020)- I am extremely glad and grateful to take part in it! I am supporting the EUMINT Team to get the EUMINT Project results known through communication, SNS, by organizing the final event… and the boardgame is so cool, that I really want it to get used! There is so much to work on “Common Values” in European Societies, to increase social cohesion with-in and between Member States… that the boardgame is a really great way to start with! 😊
My IVY experience arrived right on time: I had just finished my studies in social psychology and I needed a practical experience to better orientate my future, personally and professionally. Now that I am almost at the end of my IVY, I can really confirm it did help me so!
Thank you IVY Programme 😊
