Hello everyone! My name is Soupioni Theodora and I am from Greece. I am doing a master’s degree in Human Resources Management at the University of Macedonia and I have started volunteering as IVY Reporter for the Interreg V-B “Balkan-Mediterranean” 2014-2020 Programme in November. I volunteer in the Joint Secretariat of the BalkanMed Programme and, as a matter of fact, I am the new deputy Communication Officer. I am focusing on disseminating the values and the outputs of the Interreg BalkanMed Programme and its outstanding transnational projects. Sustainability, Innovation and Solidarity are the keys words and I am gradually learning how they apply on this whole journey of Cooperation in the Balkan-Mediterranean area. Moreover, I am learning how the European Regional Development Fund and the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance are used in practice, in order to enhance cooperation between the countries in the Balkan-Mediterranean territory and to improve the lives of citizens, by empowering a wide range of activities in the area.

Through my IVY experience, I have the chance to expand my knowledge, obtain new skills, especially in the communication sector and expand my competences. I am creating audiovisual content, discovering how to manage the website and the social media and gaining knowledge in the field of project management. I am sure that there are many more to learn during the next months. Despite the current pandemic, I have the opportunity to work from the office of the host organization. I have received a very warm welcome! All of my colleagues are extremely kind, polite and helpful. Everyone is happy to share their knowledge with me and provide me with useful advice, for which I am extremely grateful.

I feel so excited about this experience within the Interreg BalkanMed Programme and lucky to have discovered Interreg Volunteer Youth! This is a unique chance and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in EU solidarity and cooperation.

Theodora Soupioni, IVY Reporter, Joint Secretariat Interreg BalkanMed Programme
