IVY? The passion of European acronyms

PP, LD; WP… Interreg-projects love acronyms. If you start to volunteer in Interreg projects, that could be confusing at the beginning. However, don’t worry, you get used to all those terms and after the first month you are using them, as it would be your usual language. Since 5 weeks, I help to coordinate 4 Interreg-projects which are implemented in the Association of the Community Centers in Wattrelos (France). It is located in the northern region of France; It’s the area where the movie (for everyone who knows it) “Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis” takes place. My friends were joking when I told them where I would do an Interreg volunteer service. Nevertheless, the communication with my colleague

Feeling right in the center of Europe

Hello everybody, my name is Jonas and I am an IVY at the European Wilderness Society since July. Here at the European Wilderness Society or EWS the idea of the European Union is at the very heart of what we are doing. Our goal is to create a network of areas in Europe, where real wilderness still exists. Many people think of beautiful cities, impressive buildings or cool Instagram spots, when they think about their favorite spots in Europe. I, as a biologist and nature conservationist, think of the huge primeval forests of the north, the inaccessible ridges of the alps and the beautiful rivers all over Europe. As a volunteer at EWS, I can be part of connecting all these unique areas to prote

My Interreg Volunteer Youth experience at INTER-RELIGIO

Hello! Subsequently to my Erasmus Mundus joint Master of Arts in Euroculture at the Georg August Universität Göttingen and the Université de Strasbourg, I happily joined the project INTER-RELIGIO in early September. I am honored to be the Interreg Project Partner (European Solidarity Corps placement) for this initiative until December 20, 2019! Cathedral of Strasbourg Religions are a fascinating field of research. Studying their interactions and cohabitation for the purpose of dissemination is definitely a high-value objective which definitely deserved to be strived for. Credibilizing the process of building bridges between beliefs thanks to the input of academic institutions in the Upper Rh

Protecting the Danube with the head and the hands!

Hello, My name is Raphael and thanks to the IVY programme, I volunteer at the Interreg Danube Transnational Programme to be specific at the DANUBEparks Network of Protected Areas. I started on the 15th of July at the Donau-Auen National Park in Austria, a beautiful place and one of only two locations in Austria where the Danube can flow freely. The Danube Transnational Programme involves 9 EU Countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany - Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria-, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia). DANUBEparks is a network of National Parks and Nature Reserves that aim to protect the wilderness along the Danube. The goal of DANUBEparks is to bring together al

From Sicily with love: Interreg Italia-Malta, volunteering at JobMatch2020

Hi! My name is Alma I’m 28 and I’m from Galicia, a beautiful region in the North of Spain. I studied Law and a master in International Studies, and since June I am in Palermo as a member of the Interreg Volunteer Youth (IVY). I volunteer at ARCES, a non-for profit organization established as a University College of Merit, developing the JobMatch2020 project. Why did I become an Interreg Volunteer? One thing I will always regret is that I did not have an Erasmus stay when I was in college. I don’t know why I decided not to go, but I’ve been missing an international experience since then. Two years ago, I started a traineeship in the Europe Direct office in A Coruña, this was an amazing period
